Update: Extended Use of N95 Masks Not Permitted

August 6, 2021

Since the release of updated Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO) guidance for dentists, members have raised questions about whether extended use of N95 masks continue to be permitted. The ODA has confirmed with the RCDSO that their expectation is that N95 masks are single use only and must be disposed of after each patient use. Manufacturer’s instructions for use must be followed.

For more information, please see the updated version of the RCDSO Frequently Asked Questions document.

ODA members can order limited quantities of free N95 masks from the ODA Supply Hub. If you require additional masks beyond the current limit, a limit increase request can be made. Members can also access personal protective equipment via the ODA Member Discount Program.

Questions about the RCDSO’s guidance should be directed to info@rcdso.org.
